Merry Monday: A Penguin Christmas!

Merry Monday everyone!  I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and families.  I know that I did!  We had really great food and we were even crafty!  We worked on Christmas tags and decorated Christmas cookies.  I will post pictures of the tags later on in the week.

For this week's card I used the set called Punch Pals and embossed snowflakes with craft white ink and punched out the main card front with the Top Note Die.

  • Big Shot and Top Note Die
  • Punch Pals Stamp Set
  • Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Whisper White Card stock (Brown cs is Kraft paper)
  • Designer Series Paper in Jolly Holiday
  • Markers in Basic Black, Old Olive, More Mustard
  • The sentiment and snowflakes are from a retired set called Christmas Punch
  • Cherry Cobbler Ink
  • Scalloped Oval Punch
Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope you all have a wonderful week!  See you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  This is my last Thanksgiving post! :(  The time has really flown by and I can't believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  I am so excited to spend the day with  my family and friends.

For this card I used masking tape and embossing powder to create a different background (saw it on splitcoast).  I covered my card front with masking tape and them I embossed and sponged it.  I used the large stamp from Day of Gratitude stamp set with Old Olive ink.  I cut it out, adhered it to Cajun Craze card stock then cut out around that too so that the design would be matted.  The paper in the center is from the Autumn Spice collection.  The ribbon is 1/4" grosgrain ribbon in Early Espresso.  I punched the word "Thanksgivings" using the word window punch.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and some wonderful time with you friends and family.  (I also hope you find some great crafting deals on Black Friday!!)  Hugs and Blessings to you all!

  • Marker: Early Espresso

Merry Monday: Christmas Star Book

Merry Monday to you all!  Each year I make a Christmas Star Album and each year I put my Christmas card that I sent out that year on the cover.  I had to trim my card a little bit this year to put it on the cover. I used the new Stampin' Up! fabric to make the covers and sewed it on using one of the decorative stitches on my sewing machine.

Then I snipped the fabric all the way around so that it would fray and have a worn look.  Below is a picture of the back.  I used a button and ribbon to keep the book closed.
Here is what the book looks like when opening it.

On Christmas day I have each one of my family members write a short entry about the day and put it in the album along with pictures from Christmas morning.  It is so fun each year to get these out and remember the past Christmas Days we have had.  Here is a link where I saw how to make this album: http://www.scrapbook-crazy.com/star-album-instructions.html

  • Dasher Stamp
  • Early Espresso Ink
  • Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Early Espresso
  • Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Old Olive card stock
  • Deck the Halls Designer Fabric
  • Oval punch, scallop oval punch
  • Finial Press Embossing Folder
Thanks for stopping by!!

My Harvest Table

Happy Sunday!  I am really excited to post these pictures of my dining room table.  After my grandparents passed away a few years ago, I started hosting Thanksgiving.  My first year hosting it we used folding tables and nice tablecloths but I wanted a table that could fit a lot of people.  I have always loved old farm tables that are in antique stores and at one point last year I almost bought one.  I told my dad about it and he said we should build it.  So we did! :)  My husband also helped and we built it last October. We had our first Thanksgiving on it last year and I am looking forward to our second Thanksgiving with this table.  It will seat 12-14 people.  Here is a close up of the table so that you can see the slats.

Below is a picture of my dad, my neighbor, my husband and I getting the benches ready a few days before Thanksgiving last year.  I was being difficult because I insisted on using bolts that were galvanized instead of finished because I wanted to paint the ends black so that you wouldn't see all of these bright shiny silver bolts! Galvanized bolts are really hard to put the nuts on so it took a long time to put together.
Below are a few pictures of the table as we worked on it.  I painted it with a flat black paint mixed with a glaze.  Then I sanded it to give it an aged look. Then I sealed it with a very very low sheen polyurethane.

And the last picture below is the ladder that my husband and I made from old barn wood to hang above the table.  I wound grapevine and small lights around the ladder and hung it above the table.  Then we had a guy we know come in and take out the ceiling fan and install three individual lights that hang down through the ladder.

I don't know if you can tell from the first picture (click to make it larger) but my whole dining room is done in old barn wood.  My husband and I hung that many years ago.  His grandparents tore down their old family barn and I got ALOT of the wood! :)  I have used it for many things around the house and I knew the wood would make the perfect wall covering.  Thank you so much for viewing this LOOOONG post.  This table means a lot to me and my family and I look forward to sitting at it again with everyone this Thanksgiving.  Have a great day!

Thanksgiving Party Favor

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all having a good week!  Thank you to everyone for visiting and leaving your comments.  I really look forward to reading them.  A couple weeks ago I posted a Christmas Tag Box using the Top Note Die http://kingstonskreations.blogspot.com/2010/10/christmas-top-note-box.html .  I really liked this box and decided to use it as my Thanksgiving Party favor box.  If you click on the link above, there is a video on how to do the box.  I really love this Autumn Spice paper from Stampin' Up and I just had to use the wheat on the wheat paper! :)  I tied the wheat with Early Espresso satin ribbon then I hot glued it to the box.  I used Early Espresso card stock for the bottom and Very Vanilla for the box.  On the top I stamped "grateful" (using an older retired set called warm words) and I matted it with a More Mustard Scallop Oval.  I am not 100% sure what I am putting inside yet.....still working on that!  Got any ideas for me???? :)  Thanks for stopping by!!  Happy Wednesday!

Merry Monday: Winter Wonderland

Merry Monday everyone!  :)  I decided to do a scrapbook page for today's post because I just got the wonderful cricut cartridge called Winter Frolic!  I LOVE it!  For once I got a good deal too!  My local scrapbook store had all carts on sale for 39.00 and on top of that I had a 25.00 coupon!  Woo hoo!  So I decided to spend yesterday morning playing with this cartridge and I just loved this little girl so I decided to make a scrapbook page.  She is cut at 8 1/2".  I used Fancy Pants, Basic Grey, Stampin' Up!, and Coredinations card stock and paper.  Earmuffs were buttons from my stash as were the buttons on her boots.  All of the tin pieces were from a pie plate.  I used the Sledding cuttlebug embossing folder and then cut all of the words out and put them randomly on the page.  I don't know if you can see them or not but they say things like, brr, Winter Wonderland, Snow, Cold.....etc. Here is a close up of her:

The ribbon on her braids is from Jo'Ann's as well as the ribbon on the present.  The snowflakes that you see are cut from Joys of the Season and glittered with Martha Stewart Snowflake glitter.
This is a close up of the photo mat.  The picture will slide right under the light blue ribbon that goes across the mat.  I cut a tin pie plate using the top note die and embossed it with a snowflakes embossing folder.
Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you all have a great week!
